03

Why an External Driver?

Separating the motor and driver gives HVAC OEMs greater flexibility in system design, thermal management, maintenance and motor selection.

More Flexibility
for HVAC Innovation

Faster Customization

Adapt driver hardware, firmware and control interfaces without necessarily redesigning the motor.

Fewer Motor Variants

Support different HVAC control requirements with a common motor platform and matched driver options.

Easier Service & Replacement

Separate motor and driver components allow more flexible maintenance and replacement strategies.

Better Thermal Separation

Position the driver away from motor heat and vibration for improved thermal management and system integration.

TECHNOLOGY SPOTLIGHT

Sensorless Control. External Driver Flexibility.

Our sensorless motor driver solutions support Hall-sensor-free BLDC motor operation, with motor-specific tuning and configurable control options.

No Hall Sensors Required

Sensorless commutation eliminates the need for Hall sensor feedback from the motor.

Motor-Specific Tuning

Driver parameters and firmware can be optimized for motor characteristics and application requirements.

Control Interface Options

Depending on the driver model, available interfaces include 3-speed, 0–10V and RS485 control.

Technical FAQ

Find answers to common technical questions about TACICON ECM fans and blowers, including airflow performance, motor matching, control options and OEM customization.

01. What types of ECM fans and blowers does TACICON offer?

TACICON offers ECM fan and blower solutions for HVAC applications, including centrifugal blower configurations, impeller assemblies and complete motor-driven blower assemblies. Configurations can be customized based on airflow, static pressure, installation space and equipment requirements.

02. How do I select the right ECM blower for my HVAC application?

Blower selection starts with the required airflow (CFM or m³/h) and external static pressure (ESP). We then evaluate the impeller, operating speed, motor torque, electrical requirements and mechanical dimensions to identify a suitable configuration.

03. Can TACICON match an ECM motor to my existing blower or impeller?

Yes. We can evaluate your existing blower or impeller and recommend a compatible ECM motor configuration based on speed, torque, shaft dimensions, mounting requirements and operating conditions. Compatibility is confirmed through engineering evaluation and testing.

04. What is the difference between a forward-curved and a backward-curved centrifugal blower?

Forward-curved blowers are commonly used in compact HVAC equipment where space and operating conditions favor this configuration. Backward-curved impellers are often selected for applications requiring different pressure, efficiency and airflow characteristics.

The best choice depends on the system operating point, installation constraints and overall fan design.

05. Can TACICON provide a complete ECM blower assembly?

Yes. TACICON can support complete blower assemblies, including the ECM motor, impeller, blower housing and external motor driver. The configuration can be adapted to customer-specific airflow, mechanical and control requirements.

06. What control options are available for ECM fans and blowers?

Depending on the external driver configuration, available control options may include 0–10V, three-speed control and RS485/Modbus communication. Control functions and interfaces can be customized according to the HVAC equipment requirements.

07. Can TACICON customize blower dimensions, mounting and airflow performance?

Yes. OEM/ODM customization can include impeller selection, blower housing configuration, shaft dimensions, mounting interfaces, motor characteristics and external driver settings.

Final specifications are determined through application matching and engineering validation.

08. What information should I provide for ECM fan or blower selection?

Please share your required airflow (CFM or m³/h), external static pressure (Pa or in. w.g.), available installation dimensions, supply voltage, control requirements and intended HVAC application.

If available, an existing blower drawing, fan performance curve or sample can help accelerate the matching process.

09. Can TACICON supply complete ECM blower assemblies?

Yes. TACICON can provide ECM motors, impellers and blower housings as matched blower assemblies. External motor drivers and control solutions can also be supplied according to your application requirements.

10. What information is needed for blower matching?

Please provide your target airflow (CFM), external static pressure (ESP), available installation space, power supply and control requirements. Existing blower drawings or performance curves can help us evaluate a suitable solution.
